Unskilled Labor Positions in The Fields

In Editorial Comments on October 31, 2010 at 7:28 am

With all the talk about work becoming unavailable to high school and college grads, what happens to the unemployed worker? What about the laid off worker without manual labor skills in the resume?

In the novel written by John Steinbeck “The Grapes of Wrath” the migration of labor was required because the tenant farmers were in a almost hopeless situation. Lured to a distant state with promises of jobs and steady pay, migrants flowed into a plight of despair.  Is there a difference of that time in history compared to October 31, 2010?
